Wednesday Stamper - Moo Card

Finally, I've gotten back to artsy-fartsy stuff! I had never heard of "Moo Cards," but aren't they fun?!? I'd love to know the origin of the name. And since I am a coffee addict (in a REALLY bad way - I'm afraid I'm going to end up on the tv show "Intervention" for my coffee habits) I felt this would feed my addictions....stamping AND coffee. A two-fer!

I seem to have stumbled into a creative slump. Some people seem to find stress and turmoil stimulating to their creative process. I, on the other hand, find it stifling. All I want to do is curl up in my cozy bed and nap. Not very conducive to creating art. I snipped a few items out of today's news paper...a "Thought for the Day" and a coupon to Hobby Lobby. Maybe if I glue a "thought" to several pages that might prompt me to jump in and create. And, of course, coupons make me happy! I am in need of a new set of watercolor pencils.....LOTS of lovely colors!

I am visiting lots of artful blogs..seeing lovely works of art...wishing I were creating. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!!!

Yes, I'm Creating....Just Not Blogging

It's been way too long since I've posted, but I have been creating art daily as I challenged myself to do this month. Last Sunday, I recovered this journal while at work. That's the nice part of my job...while awaiting calls (I work on an ambulance all night as an EMT) I can watch movies, read books, create art, etc. So I managed to get this recovered in some lovely Basic Grey papers. I am still unsure of what I want to do to complete the cover, but I am sure it will come to me. I have packed a tote bag with some crafty essentials to haul with me (colored pencils, adhesives, snippets of images and paper, etc.) so that way, if I have the time I can create!

Among my other creative endeavors of the past week, I have been making note cards for correspondence with the kids' teachers for this school year. I failed to do this last year and found myself grabbing blah-blank paper from the printer to scribble notes on. How uninspiring and boring! So I am making a little stash to have on hand.

So.....for this week, I am going to begin filling my newly-recovered journal. I'll keep ya posted!

Wednesday Stamper - BLUE

OK....I may be getting a little caught up in this whole "blog thing." Two post in one day! I really didn't think I would even post twice a week. These are the ATCs I made for the Wednesday Stamper Challenge of the Week - BLUE. I had made the butterflies many months ago and thought they would be perfect for some project. Well, they are! I stamped the butterfly images onto a magazine page with VersaMark. Then I embossed each image with gold embossing powder and trimmed the edges. This technique works great with National Geographic, Martha Stewart or any magazine that uses nice, glossy heavy paper.

p.s....not only are the ATCs blue, but so are my fingertips! Staz-On Azure and Teal Blue to be exact!!!!

Wednesday Stamper - Stitches

This is one ATC in a series of 5 entitled Flight of the Domestic Goddess. I created this series during a time in my life a couple of years ago when I was struggling with what I wanted to do with my life. I had been a stay-at-home mom since my children were born and I was trying to decide if there was more to me than the role of wife/mom. I cherished being a mother, but felt that there was something missing in my life. Eventually, I made the decision to take a leap, professionally speaking, and become an EMT. My Self-Imposed September Challenge

Yes, I have been curious about blogging for quite some time. Not one to engage in the whole "diary thing" I thought blogging would not be for me. But after my dear friend Marti introduced me to "Artful Blogging" I thought I'd give it a try. What a great way to combine my art and gift for babbling. So, I have decided to give myself a monthly challenge to give myself that much-needed kick in the creative a$$.

September's challenge will be to be artful each and every day. It doesn't have to be big or elaborate....just artful. Let's see if I can meet my challenge!
